About the club
North London's Premier Private Members Golf Club
South Herts Golf Club benefits from a range of first class facilities: a mature 18 hole 6432 yard par 72 main course, a 1582 yard par 28 "par 3" short course, a practice ground with a number of covered practice bays, and a comfortable and well-appointed club house.
Originally arable farm-land, an almost continuous programme of tree-planting over more than a hundred years has produced an undulating wooded landscape that is as attractive to look at as it is challenging to play.
We think that these facilities, together with our attentive and efficient staff make South Herts Golf Club an outstanding environment in which to enjoy the game whether as a member, a visitor or as part of a Corporate or Society golf day.
The Vardon Course
Originally laid out in 1900 by twice Open winner Willie Park Junior, Harry Vardon made many substantial improvements to the course during his 37 years as professional and greenkeeper at the Club. Well placed trees, either singly or in copses, relatively small, often sloping greens, and the undulating nature of the land place a premium on intelligent shot placement. This, together with putting surfaces which are renowned as some of the best in the south of England is why South Herts has regularly been chosen as an Open Championship pre-qualifying venue.
The Rees Course
The Rees Course is a very testing 9 hole short course that is ideal for youngsters as well as more mature golfers just starting the game. A round or two on the Rees is also an ideal way for experienced golfers to sharpen up their iron play.
The practice facilities at South Herts are a rare asset for an urban course and is appreciated by rabbits and tigers alike. Covered driving bays allow you to improve your game even during inclement conditions, and are complimented with practice bunkers and two separate putting greens.
